About FACE/HOME page
"FACE: Fostering Access to College Education" is a registered unincorporated nonprofit association in the State of California. Its purpose is to provide college enrollment resource information to San Diego County youth in out-of-home care.
"Out-of-home care youth" include current and former foster youth, homeless youth, youth in legal guardianship, and youth living with kinship caregivers. FACE also promotes the development of a college-going culture among families caring for youth living out of their homes of origin.
This website is maintained by Joanne Higgins, the founder of FACE and its college admission specialist. Joanne has experience in the public and private sectors of college admissions, and has worked as the Director of College Guidance at a college-prep high school. She has a Master’s degree in School Counseling and a California State school counseling credential (a Clear Pupil Personnel Services credential).
Joanne provides this website as a resource to youth and their care providers, and does not receive compensation or endorsement from any public or private entity for the information contained in these pages.
